September 17–18, 2021 — John Dersham at Fort Payne Boom Days Heritage Festival
John Dersham will be signing books and exhibiting his photography at the Fort Payne Boom Days Heritage Festival in Fort Payne, Alabama, on Friday, September 17th (evening), and Saturday the 18th (9:00am to 4:00pm CT). His gallery will be housed in the Coal and Iron Building in downtown Fort Payne at Gault Avenue and 5th Street. Attendance is free and the event is open to the public.
September 15, 2021 — Robert H. Mayer with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History
Robert H. Mayer will give a virtual presentation on his book In the Name of Emmett Till: How the Children of the Mississippi Freedom Struggle Showed Us Tomorrow for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History on September 15th at 12:00pm CT. Both the presentation and the new book cover the efforts of young people in Mississippi during the civil rights movement to resist and dismantle Jim Crow segregation.

Robert H. Mayer's interview with Marshall Ramsey on Mississippi Public Radio's Now You're Talking will air on September 13th at 10:20am CT. Ramsey and Mayer will be discussing the latter's new book In the Name of Emmett Till: How the Children of the Mississippi Freedom Struggle Showed Us Tomorrow (releasing September 14th).
September 12, 2021 — Robert H. Mayer at the SCBWI Book Fair
Robert H. Mayer will be signing copies of In the Name of Emmett Till: How the Children of the Mississippi Freedom Struggle Showed Us Tomorrow at the Eastern Pennsylvania Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Book Fair on September 12th, 2021, from 1:00pm to 4:oopm ET. John H. Pickle Jr. will be a special guest at the George Washington National Monument's Prairie Days event in Diamond, Missouri. Pickle shares the story of his young father's friendship with George Washington Carver in One of His Boys: The Letters of Johnnie Pickle and His Mentor, George W. Carver. Bob Zellner will be the guest of the Prince George's County Office of Human Rights on September 9th at 6:00pm CT for a live-streamed interview on his book The Wrong Side of Murder Creek: A White Southerner in the Freedom Movement. The interview will be streamed on the Prince George's County Memorial Library YouTube channel.
September 09, 2021 — Mike Bunn with the Gulfquest Museum
Mike Bunn will be giving a presentation on the history of British West Florida at the Gulfquest Museum in Mobile, Alabama, on September 9th at 6:00pm CT. The event will be taking place in person at the museum and will be simultaneously streamed online. Bunn's book Fourteenth Colony: The Forgotten Story of the Gulf South During America's Revolutionary Era is the most extensive history of British West Florida, which he calls an under-recognized British colony during the Colonial and Revolutionary eras.
