Stephen O'Neill is Professor of History at Furman University. He has served as a consultant in fields of museum and exhibit design, organized conferences designed for the general public, and is interested in how ordinary southerners make sense of their past. He is author of articles in The Proceedings of the South Carolina Historical Association and “Memory, History, and the Desegregation of Greenville, South Carolina” in Toward ‘The Meeting of the Waters’: Currents in the History of the Civil Rights Movement during the Twentieth Century (2009). In 2016, he was awarded Furman University’s inaugural Meritorious Diversity and Inclusion Award for work promoting diversity and justice on Furman’s campus and in the Greenville community. | |||
